The Goal of Journaling

Illuminated Engagments
Writing adds energy to intent

Often times when I teach a class I will mention the importance of the use of journaling – physically writing down your personal experiences and insights on any given subject or set of experiences.  I feel it is important for your energy and subconscious to co-mingle while putting your thoughts on a solid piece of paper.  The very act of transferring your thoughts to paper via pen or pencil is an energy-packed exercise and allows the energy to flow and play out in your subconscious.  You also know have record of the experience which offers you the opportunity to see how far you’ve come from where you were when writing the journal entry.

In this month of January, many people have looked at various goals and resolutions.  Earlier we talked about your intentions.  All of these are basically the same thing—a method of moving forward with your chosen future.

Many resolutions and goals have already been broken.  You’ll be paying for that gym membership for a while without any usage –that’s why these things are so inexpensive.  Gym and fitness place owners know only a few will continue to show up; the rest will pay and not show up.

This year try setting a goal or a resolution with the act of journaling on a regular basis in mind.  It will keep you track better and again that record of how far you’ve come from where you were can’t be overemphasized.

A simple notebook will do and a few scribbles about your day or week will suffice.   Just try and write regularly – good habits as well as bad start with regular repeatable activities.  Set your goals at a place of comfort –achievable as opposed to non-achievable.  Be honest with yourself.

When you really want something in this world—you will find a way to get it.  Every child knows this.

The same can be said of adults though.  This year, try something different to keep you going in the direction you want to go.  Journaling may help in your endeavors.

This Year Can Be Different

New YearHow is your new year shaping up?
Are you where you want to be?
Have you set up any goals, resolutions or intentions for the new year or are you going let fate lead you along your life’s path?

Many don’t set goals or resolutions…but then they don’t have anything to guide them or aim for.

It’s alright to live your life this way if you want—just taking what comes to you and accepting what is instead of what could be.  In fact many people do; some know better, some have stopped trying to make life different and some don’t know better.

You’ve heard it before—you create your own reality.  It’s what has been preached to you for several decades now.  And so you try to change your thoughts, your beliefs, and your actions.  The optimum word here is try though.  Did you really accomplish the change you are seeking?  You know you have accomplished the change when your life changes to what you are seeking.  Makes sense, right?

It may take a while—but life is a process—a journey of constant expansion and contraction—that you should attempt to learn to enjoy while you are going after that which are seeking.  Think of those young people who have accomplished all they sought at an early age.  They have accomplished what they are seeking–they already at the top of their game.  Now what?

Now it’s that much harder to maintain that top of the game level or to surpass it—which now everyone expects them to do.   Or they are criticized when they begin to slip and don’t deliver the way they originally did.  Some Olympic athletes and some movie stars are like this.  This is why child stars may act erratic when they become adults—too much is expected.  It’s much tougher delivering the entire full-blown package early in life, than it is to slowly working your way towards the delivery of that package a more moderate pace.  So enjoy the slower, more even pace of your journey.

Sometimes when we try too hard, we stumble.  Don’t give up—but take a rest.  Re-evaluate, realign and readjust your overall goals.  Find some new ways and methods to get from where you are to where you want to be.  Finding these ways and methods can be fun all by themselves.  Make it an adventure to do something new this year.  Life is supposed to be fun, not hard.Smile

Let’s start with stating not that your create your own reality –but let’s say that your reality follows your beliefs and what you put out into the world.  Just by looking at this almost cliché slightly differently—from a different perspective—can we begin to look at our world differently.  This year can be different—if you let it.

Don’t you love January?  It’s a time of renewed energy and beginnings for most of us as we usher in a new year.  It’s a time of reflection about what happened in the previous year.  It allows us to gauge how far we’ve come and allows us to aim for new horizons.

This year in the Midwest we’ve had several challenges —we had the polar vortex come down and put us into a deep freeze (don’t you love these new-fangled terms that the media gives us??) and on a personally level, I’ve had a cold/flu for the last several weeks (the reason why I missed 2 weeks of blogs!) I’m hoping this crazy type of weather and bout of bad health isn’t indicative of what the new year is planning on bringing—how that for pessimism?

Say what??  Blake is being pessimistic.  That isn’t like her!

Okay, so I’m using that phrase as an example.  Whatever your current situation is—you can change it.  I have several situations that I want to change currently and I’m working on each one of them.  How?

To begin with, I wake up each morning with a prayer of appreciation and gratitude and then I set my intentions –a short list of what I generally would like to accomplish that day.  It helps me set the tone and mood for the day.  I also state that intent to have a good attitude about the day.

This simple exercise done in a thirty second space when I’m stretching and yawning my way to my feet, as I roll out of bed, helps me deliver the goods each and every day.  I end the day with another prayer of appreciation and gratitude; appreciating what I did accomplish that day without focusing on what I didn’t accomplish.

Law of attraction tells us that we have to focus on what we want and not what we don’t want.  Easy said than done.  So one aspect of the law of attraction that we’ll be looking at this year.

2014 is a year of refocusing, realigning and readjusting, the Divine Guidance Team tells me.  2012 started a movement, 2013 shook the place up and now we’re settling down with a renewed aim.  We’ll be exploring more of this new energy coming in as we continue into 2014.

We’ll be providing you with new tools and offerings to help you realign your energies, renew your focus and readjust your sails to move into the space you desire to go.  Come journey with us and discover your new worlds!
