Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda….Not!

I was talking to my angels the other day and doing an exercise about my past.  Essential they asked me during my discussion with them, if I had the choice to go back into my own timeline and start over again, and keep all the wisdom I have now, so I could change my current life, what would be the point in time I would go back to?

And so I started thinking about pivotal times in my life – moments that changed the course of my life, which started at age 4 and moved all the way to just a few years ago.  And while I first thought about going back to childhood, I quickly removed that option – as I didn’t want to repeat all the nonsense I learned in school all over again.  Of course, I’d know most of the answers, so I’d probably be deemed a genius.  But many parts of my childhood was rough for me in many ways and dealing with all the crap I had surrounding me was not appealing – at all.  Of course, other parts were great.

And so after much discussion, exploration and lots of thinking—I decided, no I didn’t want to go back and ‘fix’ anything because so much was already broken around me and I didn’t want to deal with that stuff I would have to deal with as a result of going back in time.

But I did appreciate this exercise.  Why don’t you try it yourself sometime?  See at what point you’d try to change your future, with the wisdom and knowledge you have in the present, but keep all the drama that may have surrounded you then.

Could you have changed your past to make a better future?  In some ways, yes and other ways no.  Would you have?  Should you have?

Who you are today is a reflection of your past –whether you are years young or years old or somewhere in between.

At any time, you can choose to change your future – by creating your world now.  You can stay in your past and let it define you, or you can choose what parts of your past you wouldn’t be able to change anyways and so you might as well accept it—and move on.  You are who you are because of it.

How do you want your tomorrow to be?  You may not be able to change or even want to change you past, but your tomorrow starts with today.  Make it a great one!

Would You Like a Do-Over?

The other day I posted about an exercise I had with my angels about my past.  After the exercise, when I realized I didn’t really want to literally go back in time and change my past as a result of dealing with other things in my life I didn’t want to deal with and that would remain the same – I realized with the help of my Divine Guidance Team that I didn’t need to go literally back in time – but I could do so in my mind – fix my issues – and maybe gain some clarity about my current life.

Having clarity in one’s life is always helpful for present day answers to present and past day questions.

So how do you do a Do-Over?  Here’s some steps to get you started:

  • First, relax…you can do this exercise while lying down or sitting up; first thing in the morning or last thing at night. If you fall asleep, it’s OK—your dreams that night may also give you clarity.
  • Second, go back in your mind to a point where life ‘changed’ for you – or where you would like to make life better for your future. This point can be anywhere in your life.  In fact, you may have several points that were turning points for you, but right now just choose one time in your life, from which you want to have a different outcome.
  • Start remember some of the details of that time – this could be painful to you. But know this is in the past.  Ask your angels to help you ease the pain surrounding this time, as needed.  Cry and get angry if you must, be in a moment you will be changing this outcome so don’t allow yourself to become so overwrought with emotion that you can’t do this exercise!
  • Bring your angels in to help you heal your wounds of the past. Ask Archangel Michael to cut the karmic and ethereal cords of this situation that no longer serve you.  Ask Archangel Raphael to heal the broken spirit and heart that lies within.  Let the angels in so they can do their work to help you.  Open your heart to them.
  • Now that you remember how the bad or turning point situation went, start manipulating the situation towards the outcome you would have like to have happened. You do this with your imagination.  Take as much time as you need to imagine how you want it to be not as it was.  Here you can turn things around in your favor.  Be as vivid and detailed with the event as possible.  Bring in your sense of smell, touch and taste as needed to create a living motion picture in your mind’s eye.   Take your time and move through the scene knowing you are in charge of the situation.  You are the victor, not the victim.  Breathe deeply and square back your shoulders if you are able.  This moves the energy towards strength within your body as well as within your emotions.
  • Continue picturing the event or situation as you wish it to have been. No longer should you focus on what was, but instead focus on only what you want it to be.  Enjoy the scene as much as possible.  Feel the emotions of courage, strength and love within yourself and others as the scene moves forward.
  • Wrap up the scene in your mind’s eye with a positive and productive outcome. Just before you come back to the present moment, ask the angels to enforce the healing of the situation of what was and put into effect this new scenario for you.  Ask Archangel Raphael to heal your wounds and ask Archangel Michael to cut the cords of the negative past and provide you strength as you move forward today with this your new, positive outcome.
  • Come out of your meditation exercise with gratitude and appreciation for the angels’ help and your own courage and strength to move through this process. If you fell asleep, then do your thank you the next morning when you remember to do so.

In the days following this healing exercise, remember to enforce the new experience that now replaces the old.  Ignore the old and only focus on the new, with love and appreciation.

Don’t be surprised if those who may have been present during the past times you looked at, begin to act more kindly to you.  This exercise, which psychologists call re-patterning, can be a powerful spiritual tool and has been used for many a century to change the outcomes of many a life.  The energy attached to this type of exercise is powerful and can change your present on the physical level, which of course is helpful to you, both on the physical, emotional and spiritual levels.

Allow about a week, before trying this exercise again for any other turning points you want to change from your past.

Permit yourself to who you desire to be as you continue to move forward in your life.  Ask your angels for help along your life’s path.  They are very happy to do so, for this is their joy and purpose.

Can you do a Do-Over for a better outcome?  The answer is yes.  Yes, you can.

Can You Have Too Much Peace?

Best of IEC Blogs

Can you have too much peace and contentment in your life?
Are you making too much drama in your life?
Are you bored with your life?

There’s a new TV show this year that depicts a young mom who is a recovering alcoholic and whose own mother, who now lives with her, was a drug addict and alcoholic and whose teenage daughter is pregnant.  Further she was dating her married boss.  In other words, her life is a mess.  The TV show is ‘Mom’, a CBS Monday night comedy.  The comedy demonstrates what can happen when a person is trying to clean up their past acts, find more peace and joy in their lives and yet never is able to quite get there.

In my opinion, it’s a slice of life that is too often part of our own reality.  While we here at Illuminated Engagements are in the business of attempting to guide you towards a better life –one with more peace and contentment, joy and success and add in an understanding of the spiritual and metaphysical world to boot.  We have found that many people say they are ready for such an adventure, but then turn their backs or run away when faced with such a real possibility of a saner and more comfortable life.  Why?

There was an episode later in the TV season of ‘Mom’, where Christy, the central figure, is at an AA meeting and reveals the answer. She relates that for the first time in a long, long time her life is going great.  Work is good (she dumps the married boss); her own mother is now clean and sober and really helping out around the house; her work is doing fine (she’s a waitress, but is looking for something better, but isn’t quite knowing that that is yet); and her daughter is going have a family adopt the baby (although there is some push back from the father of the baby—hey, something has to keep the show going!).

All in all, there is no real crisis or terrible problems in Christy life she realizes as she voices her story out loud to the AA group. And then she looks around, shocked and announces, “Life is suddenly really boring.”  Where’s the drama?  She laments.  Where is the fun?  She’s not really sure how to deal with her life actually working for a change.

As I watched this episode, I could see her plight.  I’ve had my share of drama in the past and I have made the mistake of announcing to the Universe, “I’m bored….” like some kids just out of school on summer vacation.  Well, the Universe heard me and provided me with plenty of drama quickly.  Yikes!  I worked my way out of it, gradually, and I’m now very careful not to make such pronouncement going forward!  I prefer peace than chaos in my world.

Can you accept the peace you are asking for?

But I see a lot of people who can’t accept such peace in their lives.  They simply don’t know how to cope with everything working for them.  So of course they self-sabotage themselves and their lives—so peace is the furthest thing from their doorstep and they can continue to complain to others about their world.  They may continue their spiritual pursuits or may give them up, since they don’t seem to be working for them.  Either way they may not fully understand why their lives remain chaotic.

Alas the laws of the universe work whether we believe in them or not.  What we send out, does indeed come back to us—sometimes in spades!  We do cause our own reality and forget the way the universal laws really work.  Then we remember them, (if we were ever taught them) and for a while life gets good again.  Christy in ‘Mom’  is still learning this lesson and doesn’t really understand or know how universal laws work, although she is seen repeating affirmations with her young son in the car.  I imagine she will demonstrate her progress in her life as the show continues.   The show, while a comedy, can also teach us a thing or two about our own dramatic lives.

Life is a journey and we often cause our own problems (most of the time we do).  We look to blame others –including our government, children, financial institutions, bosses, parents and spouses, among others for our problems.  We can learn from life and occasionally from TV shows and movies.  The Universe responds to you, your thoughts and your actions –it doesn’t judge or even guide you (that the job of the Divine).   So if you can’t cope with the peace, joy, success and contentment in large doses, you might be able to take in smaller baby step doses.  It’s okay.  Because taking one step at a time is the point of your life’s journey.

Where do you stand in life?  Have too much drama?  Or too much peace?  Let us know and share with others!

And if you need some help along the way towards a better life,
we may have some Divine knowledge of how to get there
that can be useful to you.

Vacation Days are Important

How Important is Vacation to You?

Illuminated Engagements
Vacations are important

There is a new commercial from MasterCard about not taking vacation days.  It points out that most people these days in America aren’t taking all their vacation days –apparently they too busy at work to do so and now their children are suffering as a result.  As one little girl points out, “It’s Paid Vacation Days,” explaining the fact the days are paid. These children want one more day from their parents.  And while the commercial is obviously promoting the use of the MasterCard credit card, the message is real, convincing and really very sad.

Why aren’t more people taking vacations?  According to my stay in corporate world it’s because the work goes on even if they are not there – and when they come back, because they haven’t kept up with the pile of work on their desks daily, there is now a whole boatload to deal with.

People of corporate America probably don’t read this blog – but I’m going to say this anyway – people: this is wrong!  As a member of corporate America for at least 20 years now in one form or fashion – the fact that people don’t take vacation days is just very sad.  The problem lies not with the workers but with management.  Poor management.

The corporate culture in this country has said let’s make profit at the expense of others.  There’s nothing wrong with making money, don’t get me wrong.  Again the problem isn’t the making of money.  It is how we make the money.  Is it honorable?  Or is it greedy?

Universal law says that greed follows greed.  Honor will follow honor.  The law of cause and effect states basically that what comes around goes around.  What these people of greed and dishonor will have is greed and dishonor comes back onto them in some form or fashion.  Whether they wind up divorced, broke, diseased or in jail, the universe will take care of them because the universe reflects back to them what they are putting out.  “Vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord”, is the basically the way the Bible puts it.

I’ve witnessed ambulances coming and going at my former place of work, as a result of people working so hard they have heart attacks at their desks, especially around Christmas (year’s end).  Daddy/Mommy isn’t going to be at Christmas this year because they had to meet some impossible year end deadline that the management set is the story told too often.

We all have to learn to become more responsible for our actions and our acts.  We have to plan better and manage better – in all areas of our lives.

I’m going out on a limb with this blog – it’s much harsher than previous blogs.  But if we are going to change – we have to change.  For if nothing changes, nothing changes.

Our behaviors are ruled by our beliefs.  Start checking what you believe and what you don’t.  And if you don’t believe that vacations aren’t right for you because you’ll have too much work at the end of it –do something about that.  Go to management.  Tell them you need help.  Designate others to do the work.
At last resort, go to human resources, your union leader, form a union, protest or find another job.

You are too important to others and your family.  Even the media with its commercials are now pleading for us to change.  Change starts with one person.  Will it be you?   Or will your kids be missing you because you were too busy working to take a vacation?  It’s “paid vacation days” – take it–for your kid’s sake if not your own!

Fear into Action

Fear into Action“Instead of letting fear rule us and our emotions, we can choose a better way of handling the situation. We can choose to transform fear into action – positive action that up lifts both ourselves and those who we are dealing with.

The simplest way to deal with this is to ‘let go and let God’.  Or in other words, let the situation become dormant and then bless it.  Gratitude is the key here.  Express gratitude for the situation and lessons it is showing you.  You may have to take some time in order to do this, but when you show gratitude instead of judgment; you are sending out a better vibe and thus will receive a better result.”

These are the words I wrote in the Law of Belief workshop book, which I’m teaching this week online.  I was putting the final editing on the book when I came across this information that I had written.

And I had to stop and laugh, for I had just gone through a situation where I needed to hear these very words!  The wisdom of the Divine had come through for me again.

I am positive that much of what I write is inspired information.  And even when I write, edit and read the information presented, I sometimes still don’t my own message!  It’s true, we teachers can teach you all that we know, but sometimes forget to apply to our own lives.

I reached out to a friend last night about my particular situation and she walked me through the process of turning my  fear into action, anger into non-judgment in a loving, nonjudgmental way that I simply wasn’t capable of last night.  My emotions were too high and raw.

But in the light of the next day I was better and believed I handled the situation well.  We’ll see –it’s ongoing and hasn’t concluded yet.  It’s really a minor thing – but something I hadn’t experienced and so didn’t know how to handle.  And then in morning I read my own words!   Again—the universe agreeing with us in such a wonderful fashion!

So lessons learned: step back and take a breath when something pops up for you that become too emotional to handle in the moment and find and use and be grateful for your support system.  Thank you my dear friend to be there for me when I needed you.  Thank you for showing me what I wrote and for letting me process this situation in such a loving wonderfully blessed manner.

Life is great — you just need the tools to navigate through it!  Inspiration and motivation, hope and insight – it’s all there for the asking.

Thank you for allowing us to Improve Your Life with Divine Wisdom and Guidance!

Discovering how Law of Attraction Works

“Oh no! Not another class on Law of Attraction – that is so Pre-2008!”
“LOA?  Tried it, doesn’t work for me.”
“Isn’t that what that movie ‘The Secret’ was all about?  I don’t get it.”

Illuminated Engagements
You can see Lake Michigan from my back yard! Sweet!

These and more are just some of the comments I’ve heard from others about that almost clichéd term: Law of Attraction.  So why am I know teaching an online and local workshops on this universal law?

Simple: I get it and others don’t and I want to see if I can get you to get it too.  Got it?  Good!

I get the law of attraction and I understand how it works.  I am able to make it work for me – not against me.  How do I know?  Because I’m living the life I want to live as a result of following this universal law.   I have want I want in life as a result of understanding how this law works—as it works for all of us.

I see what this law can do for me and what it does or doesn’t do for others – as they allow or don’t allow it to work in their lives.

The movie “The Secret” was only half the story.  We all know that.  For most of us, we watched it once and then tried it once or twice; it got too hard and then we walked away from all of this ‘nonsense’ and went back to our daily grind.

Yet life went on, didn’t it?  Did anything change for you?  Probably not.  You really didn’t ‘get’ how and why this law works then, did you?  And if you did for a time and it worked – great!!!  Welcome to the club!  However, my observation is: most people aren’t living the real life they want – they are living the life that is.

Now you can start over again – with a clean slate.  You know and we know –you want something better.

I’ve been blogging about universal laws for a while now –because I know they work.  See the picture I have with this blog.  That’s my back yard.  And yes that is Lake Michigan.  I live in a very nice neighborhood now and I have fantastic work that I’m doing.   I finally feel like I’m enjoying my life and living my life’s purpose.

Did it happen because I wished it would?  Yep, partially.  Did I do a lot of action items to make it work? Yep, some.  But how did I really get here?  And how can you get here too?  With your own slice of paradise in your backyard and doing your life’s true work?

That is what I am now teaching in my online workshop about Discovering the Truth about Law of Attraction.  We have our first workshop starting on September 11th and concluding on September 18th in the evening.  You can go over to our web page and learn all the details.  Needless to say, I’d love for you to be part of this workshop.

I know this stuff works – I’m living proof.  Now I want to teach you how to get here too.  Join us, won’t you?
