Me and My Careers
Most people know that I have a BA degree in TV/Film production. I started my career as a production assistant at an Orlando TV station. There I got to play with the large floor cameras, the audio board, the teleprompter and even being a floor manager. I also got to work the network/local switchboard and film projector. It was fun while it lasted. The average amount of time being a TV station production assistant back in those days was only about three years.
Alas, those days are gone, and everything is computerized today. It makes me sad that young people won’t have the type of opportunities that were afforded to me.
I went on to produce my own TV shows on the local community access channel. I produced, directed, edited, and wrote all the shows, which did have a cast. Again, those days are gone. But it was a great experience.
Eventually, I left this field and went on to being a small medical clinic manager and after that a graphic designer and writer. (I think those jobs are still out there!) I also became a senior business system analyst/project manager for several large pharmaceutical corporations.
These days I am semi-retired. During all of those careers what I really wanted to be is a novelist. With the advent of Amazon direct publishing, I saw my dreams come true. Now I have ten books in the hopper with five out in the world. I also have a variety of books on angels and channeling. Oh yeah, I also speak to ghosts, angels, and ascended masters. But that is a blog for another day.
I didn’t always enjoy my life when I was working for others, but I gained a lot from the experience. Don’t give up on your day job but know that it isn’t the end of the line. I’ve written stories since I was a child of eight. Now I get to write every day if I want.
How are your dreams doing?
