How to Deal with People Who Drive You Crazy

Sorry, folks—it’s been a crazy couple of weeks! I tried to find a link to time management but stumbled on this link –which just felt sooo appropriate after the week I’ve had.

We all get those types of weeks, don’t we? And we get so caught up in the frenzy that we forget to slow it down and take it easy—‘cause we don’t even have time to think!!

I still say my nightly appreciation and intentions, but beyond that – well, too much!!! It’s all too much!!!

Okay, so if you’re having that type of week – remember, as I was reminded the other day, it’s harvest time and we’re programmed to be busy in September and October – it was the time of harvest in days gone past and apparently even if there are no crops to get in for the winter – we still have this type of mentality. It all made so much sense to me when I heard this analogy. No wonder I’m so busy!!!

Try and take time to notice the leaves changing and the cooler breezes blowing. I personally love this time of year – and I am not allowing people who drive me crazy to spoil for me!

Quiz: Finding Your Life Purpose

What is your life purpose?
Every once in a while I need to check in and make sure I’m actually on my right life path. If my chosen life purpose is on track. Yes, it even happens to me now and again. So when I stumbled across this nifty little quiz, I took it –and yes, I’m on the right path. I came up with teacher, writer and healer, among a few other life purpose choices.

Who are you meant to be? What is your life purpose? Are you on the right path? You have figure this out before you can even take the first steps in getting there.

Take the quiz and see what pops out to you. See what words seem to ring true for you and see which ones you can immediately toss away.

5 Ways to Live More Couragously

I worked for a man once upon a time who thought he was Tony Robbins; he wasn’t, but he did something Tony does in his seminars: the walk-on-coals routine. Oprah visited Tony during one of his weekend seminars awhile back and much to her surprise she did the walk-on-coals thing. She’s much braver than I and you couldn’t pay enough to do this. Sorry, just ‘ain’t’ going to happen.

Personally I think walking-on-coals is stupid not courageous; now for those of you have done this—I’m not saying you’re stupid. I just think walking-on-coals to prove you are fearless is stupid. Because frankly getting up every day and facing the world with a genuine smile proves to me you’re courageous.

This week we’re discussing the theme of being courageous and beating back fear. I had my own near scare recently when I thought I would need very expensive knee surgery. Turns out I only sprained my knee and didn’t tear any ligaments or tendons. Yay!!! Thanks God and All My Angels!! (Both here on earth and in Heaven!)

In my office at home and in my corporate job cube, I have lots of sayings and affirmation-type axioms posted, so I am reminded daily to live up to my potential with courageous insights. This type of reminder helps me if and when I become fearful. Also reading articles on how Tony Robbins conquers his fears. Tony Robbins has been a mentor of mine for years; although I’ll never attend one of his lectures if he’s expecting me to walk on hot coals!!)
Out of his five ways, I resonate most with #1 and #5. Which ones resonate most with you?

Blake reiterates that she’s not crazy about walking-on-hot-coals to prove you’re fearless. She’s much rather lives her life day by day with a smile on her face and in her heart.

How Happy Am I?

Happy People Photo by Yuri Arcurs
I came across this Happiness Quiz…and guess what –I’m happy!! It took me a long time to get here and I work on it every day. Depression runs in my family and for years I was on medication to battle this state of being. It’s not a fun state of being and it can be hard to overcome. But I was in my 30’s and life wasn’t what I wanted from it. My career satisfaction wasn’t good; I was constantly unemployed. My love life was dismal if not non-existence. I was always looking for that elusive something to make me happy. And could never find it.

I think most of us in their 20’s, 30’s and even 40’s reach this stage – especially here in America where we are driven to always look towards the future and are always striving to get ahead.

It wasn’t until I reached my 50’s that I finally started to really get that message that lots of people in their 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and beyond finally get –and that it all starts inside of you –not outside. But during my youth, I had different agendas and it was OK to simply go with the flow and look outside of myself. Heck, at least I was looking!

But now in my 50’s, my agenda has changed. The pressures of being or trying to be a wife, mother and career star has passed; I’ve calmed down in my frantic pursuits and began to accept life as it comes to me, knowing my faith in something higher will sustain me. Notice I said began to accept….for I still struggle –not with depression that thankfully has long passed with the help of a support system and medication –but with acceptance of me. for who I am now and who I’ve become and liking that person. And I do – I do accept myself and I like myself for whom and what I am. And that is the first steps to true happiness.
