Things That Go Bump in the Night – Part 5

“From ghoulies and ghosties, And long-leggedy beasties, And things that go bump in the night, Good Lord, deliver us!” ~Traditional Scottish Prayer

Our imagination serves us very well and our media (movies, books, TV, video games, etc.) helps fuel our imagination. I personally watch a lot of TV, usually just before I go to bed. And sometimes images stay connected to my brain. When I turn the light off at night, shadowy images dance across my retinas and with just a little imagination and fright, I can turn what is essentially a matrixing event (where our brains wants to form logical patterns from that which is not logical) into a full blown haunting complete with demons and shadow people galore. Don’t laugh—it’s happened. Even to me!

I also wear contacts and often times my eyes will just play tricks with me while in a dark room. What I call floaters may swim along my eyeball and the next thing I think is that I’m seeing things.

What I’m trying to say to you is that one must always look for the logical explanation of the supernatural and metaphysical—before jumping to the conclusion that it is a ghost, demon or angel. Look for the explainable before thinking an event, incident or sighting is non-explainable.

Look for the obvious and then the not so obvious. And once you’ve analyzed the situation from several angles, conferred with experts and done your research properly –then and only then think about your event as being something outside the range of the explained and act accordingly.

Yes, there is ‘evil’ or extreme contrast in the world and it manifests in many ways. But demons and the devil are mostly part of a man-made belief system to keep those who thought this system up and sustain it in power over those who remain in fear.

My God is a loving God and not a fear abiding Creator. He loves me unconditionally and protects me at my every asking. Remember to look towards the Light first –it is where joy and happiness reside.

Do your own research and allow fear to stay with the scope of reason. It’s okay to be scared at the movies –it’s a healthy outlet of our emotions. But dragging home monsters that scare you powerless is the stuff of Hollywood and Bible-toting preachers in revival tents.

Remember to ask your angels to protect you when you are afraid. And remember to keep a flashlight by your bedside. Just in case that thing you heard that went bump in the middle of the night—turns out to be….your child asking for water, your cat jumping down from the bed or the ice maker unloading more ice into your refrigerator’s ice bucket. Because chances are it simply that and not any ghostie, or ghoulie or any other thing that goes bump in the night!
