Learning to Make Your Life What You Want

Life is what you make it.  While the angels and guides are there to help us along the way, ultimately it comes down to you and how you want to live your life.

In 2005, I visited New Mexico for the first time and felt the magic of the

Lovely NM Day!

area.  I attempted over the next several years on subsequent visits, to find a job in the Albuquerque area, so I could move there.  The place felt so different to me. The sky was bluer, and the air was cleaner.  The mountains spoke to me. And even though it was hot, it was a drier heat and more tolerable.  But fate had other plans and so, I stayed in the Chicagoland area.

Years passed and my corporate world came to an end. Life moved me to Lexington, Kentucky. My part-time spiritual business blossomed into a full-time affair. I resurrected my novel-writing career. Then fate spoke again.  Circumstances cropped up and New Mexico was again calling to my soul.  This time, the timing was right.  And so after many years of attempting to do so, I finally was able to move to the Albuquerque area in New Mexico.  I am writing this article in New Mexico—my dream finally accomplished!

When I crossed the border yesterday (from Texas to New Mexico, as I drove here from Kentucky—a 3-day journey), I cried and felt the wave of powerful, spiritual energy that is here.  They don’t call it the Land of Enchantment for nothing.

The Divine Guidance Team helped me get here and has awoken my soul to new possibilities and realities.  They want to share those possibilities with you, as we shift our focus to new dialogues and conversations with you.  There is much to be said and discussed as we continued to grow spiritually, mentally and physically.  The Great Shift is upon us all and change is in the air in new dramatic ways. Learning to cope and grow with these changes for the highest return will be part of the new undertaking as The Angelic Path goes forward.  I hope you will share our journey down our pathway!  The fun continues!

I am living my life the way I desire and am enjoying every minute of it.  Yet, I’m still learning and growing every day.  I accept what life is handing me, but I have also learned how to create what life is giving me. This is freedom and my heart singing its soul song.  Life is what you make it.

How are you living yours?

Many Blessings,

Tragedy Brings Home 12 More Angels

Tragedy struck at the midnight showing of a movie when a lone gunman opened fire. AP Photo/Denver Post/Karl Gehring

Tragedy stuck this past week when there was a horrible massacre in America. Twelve individuals lost their lives at the hands of an alleged mentally unstable individual who seemed to be playing out a fantasy of his own making. He took four deadly weapons into a movie theatre at a midnight showing of the new Batman movie in Aurora, Colorado and open fire. Twelve people died as a result and over 70 were wounded as a result of flying shrapnel and in the chaos that followed.

The questions that followed this tragedy were many that ranged from the inevitable questions of gun control to the need for doing more with mental illness. America is still reeling from this tragedy because it is not used to such acts of violence.

As of this writing, the motives of the gunman, a 24 year old student who couldn’t find a job in today’s economy, are unclear. As the days pass by, we, the remaining witnesses, will no doubt learn more about this young man’s motives and intentions. In the meantime, families grieve for their lost ones and the nation as a whole is shaken again by this terrible occurrence.

When this type of event happens, we are often left feeling lost, betrayed, angry and sad. We wondered why this type of event happens—what type of country are we that allows such violence to occur, what type of God allows this to happen –to take our precious loved ones and what could we have done to prevent this type of event from even happening or happen again?

These are the questions that are so often asked and we all are seeking the answers. I am no different than the rest of the nation, even as a channel with my Divine Guidance Team. I too wanted to speak out and let my Team tell you what their opinions and thoughts were about this tragedy. But wisely, they told me that the wounds are too fresh and painful to deliver any type of message that would be meaningful. Now is simply the time to heal and wonder –why did this happen?

In sharp contrast to the tragic event in Colorado, was my viewing of a Soul Pancake segment that lay within the TV show, “Super Soul Sunday”, presented by Oprah’s network each Sunday morning. This short video segment presented a scenario where the producers had set up 2 large colorful booths that allowed by-passers to give or receive a compliment to each other. One booth was presented like a TV announcer’s booth where there was a large microphone and the other was a large pair of head phones. Various couples walked by and then several started to take the challenge—to give or get a compliment from each other. These people were not only wives and husbands or engaged couples, but also mothers and daughters, good friends, sons and fathers and employer and employee. One mother confessed to her grown daughter, as she complimented her, “I never told you this before—but you make being a mother easy.”

When I heard this and several similar confessions and compliments – I was struck by how many times people said – “I don’t think you know…,” or “I don’t think I’ve ever told you this but…,” and thought to myself –why didn’t they say something before this? How can you not tell someone how much they mean to you? Why did it take a film crew with a clever set to allow you to speak up and give a compliment to your loved one or fellow human being?

And then I thought about those parents and loved ones of the twelve people who are now gone. Did these parents and loved ones not tell these massacred people how much they love them while they were still here? What were they waiting for?

Every day that goes by without telling someone close to you that you love them is a day wasted.
Why do senseless acts of violence happen? Perhaps it is simply to recognize how precious life truly is and that our reason for being here on this planet, with these people that surround us, is to make sure they know we love them and that they love us.

It is an unknown author who wrote: “Every day is a gift and that is why we call it the present.”

We cannot undo what has been done and the people in Colorado are now gone. This type of tragedy happens all around the globe every day. Sadly, it is becoming more commonplace in the United States.

What are we learning from this tragedy and what can we learn right now from this tragedy?

Why don’t we start with a compliment to someone who is close to you? Or even give a smile or a compliment to a stranger—you never know what this might do to lift their day. Don’t let the words you hold in your heart be unspoken—say them while they are still here to receive these feelings. Know each life is precious and today is a gift.
Be open to receiving compliments too. Recognize that people think and know you are worthy and are loved.
Interaction between humans is a two-way street –whether it is in person or electronic – we are here to connect with each other. Make the most of that connection and allow your love to shine forth.

Perhaps then, we won’t have to grieve so hard when tragedy strikes.

We here at Illuminated Engagements send our thoughts and prayers to all who lost a loved one, to all the hard-working responders from that night and who remain vigilant in their duties for answers and to all who were wounded, both physically and mentally that night. We wish a speedy recovery and that justice may be served in the highest interest of all.

Discovering Your Life Purpose

What is your life purpose? Photo provided by Microsoft Clip Art Library.
Lately we’ve been talking about finding your own purpose. I’m probably writing more about this subject lately, as I have recently found my own purpose—which is providing high wisdom as a channel. I channel my own Divine Guidance Team, which has formed the foundation of Illuminated Engagements Centre for Whole-Being. We recently has a Live Channeling Event, the first of many to come and was astounded by the information that came through.

Some of the subject matter touched on life purpose, and also the new paradigm Law of Responsibility which is replacing the older model of the Law of Karma. By releasing your karma, which you now have the ability to do as our world shifting and changing, you replace this law with one of responsibility –you are the creator of your own actions, deeds, works and words. You have a personal responsibility to act in the best interest of yourself and at the same time in the best interest of others. All must be for the highest good.

The immature mind and soul may take these words and twist them for their own gain, thinking that their actions are in the best interest of others—but this is not the case. All must be in balance and harmony, under additional universal laws that remain in place. Once we take into account other universal laws and merge them together, will we then live in harmony and true balance.

Nature strives for balance in all things. Your life purpose therefore must in balance and harmony with your own true self. It is your own responsibility to discover and explore your life purpose which has been designed to be a unique and personal blend of what you are naturally talented at and that which you enjoy the most.
To help you continue to explore your life purpose, I have come across an on-line article by spiritual teacher and author Caroline Myss. Please read it over and let this knowledge sink into your being. See if it resonates with you and your way of thinking. Ponder the meaning of life and your own life purpose and see how you may change your life for the better as a result:

Power of Visualization for Businesses and Life!

Last year I hired a business coach to help rescue my flaying business which was really all over the place and where I wanted it to go? –I didn’t have a clue! My business coach was (and still is) great and as a result of working with her, this new business of mine (Illuminated Engagements) came together very quickly and my other business (Amethyst Moon), which is a sister site to this site got revamped.

One of the things, Maggie Mongan, my business rescue coach emphasizes is the power of visualization –imaging how your business looks and how you want it to look. She recently wrote about this in her weekly blog. These same principals can be applied to us in life. When we ask for something to manifest, we must first imagine what our desire looks like and apply true intent towards this desire. This action will allow the universe to feed our energy into manifestation.

I love what Maggie says in #1 – we must take time to perform this simple action for anything we want to create –whether it is for our business or our personal life. Visualization is a very powerful too.
What points does Maggie point out that ring true for you?

The Power of Intention

Maya is one of my 'dancing cats'.
Every morning, as I just wake up and lie in bed, my cats dancing around me eager for their mother to get up and feed them, I perform what I call my Gratitudes and My Intentions ritual. It is the time where I say thanks for waking up and all the things I am grateful for –including dancing cats and alarm clocks and where I also state what I am planning to do that day. It is a brief outline, in my head, about the day’s events and what I intent to accomplish that day. For example, I intended to write this blog today, which will be posted a few days from the time I’m writing this. I also intended to keep my mood happy and my attitude bright.

They are small steps to keep me focused and on the path I’m choosing to go on. It takes only a few minutes before I roll out of bed, my feet hitting the ground and I’m off on a new day.

As I go to sleep at night, I also say what I am grateful for –for example, that I accomplished my intention! But if I didn’t fulfill my intention – I am still grateful for the opportunity to do so the next day.
I found an on-line article on the power of intention, by Sharon Salzberg who is the author of “Faith: Trusting Your Own Deepest Experiences.” She relates her own point of view about intentions and has some good information to share.

Habits are simply actions you keep giving power to – some habits are good habits – like stating your intention daily and another good habit is being grateful for all that you have in life. Remember to be grateful daily and set your intentions. You’ll be amazed just how far you can go!

Blake is grateful for all her dancing cats and sets her intention daily. She doesn’t always accomplish her intention, but just formulating it keeps her mind sharp and her attention alerted to the possibilities that life offers her daily.
